Thank you and Hello!
Having a keen interest in studying and graduating with a Biochemistry Degree given the hands on approach using applied physics and engineering, I am grateful for the years supporting the biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing teams around the world for more than 30 years. I was taught early on in my years that membranes are like litmus paper; they detect any changes happening to the processing stream. Trouble shooting process development, scale-up and manufacturing challenges always related back to the litmus paper premise using a deeper understanding of applied process knowledge that I have developed over these years.
My Story
Working early on in my career at the Wilmer Eye Institute (Johns Hopkins University) with photoreceptor cells, I learned how to harvest and grow rods and cone cells to advance Dr. Adler's department research working with a team of MD / Phd students. This appreciation for understanding how to grow cells outside the body lead me into upstream processing equipment and stirred cell reactor designs to support several teams of researchers at NIH, FDA as well as USAMRID. Developing solutions to their process with upstream technology was the beginning of my desire to generate a deeper understanding of their unit operations. Given this thirst for knowledge I was fortunate enough to meet a pioneer in membrane technology during these technical calls, Alan S. Michaels (MIT / Founder of Amicon). Inspired by our discussions lead me deeper down this "rabbit-hole" or some may say "black-hole" to where I supported both membrane solutions for both upstream and downstream processing. I was truely blessed having years of training from John Rozembersky with hands on approaching for TFF process optimization as well as a host of equipment set up and training we have done collectively over the years. Having a supportive management team early on in my career at Filtron Technologies, Inc by Tony MacDonald provided me the ability to constantly think and grow at a rate that has now generated solutions to clients globally. This truely hosted my approach to globally solving the mRNA processing needs brought upon us in 2020 using the Spectrum Hollow Fibers and KTF systems which is now owned by Repligen.
